Meet John Paul Drayer

John Paul Drayer has deep roots in Bellflower. He was born and raised in Bellflower. He attended all Bellflower schools and graduated from Bellflower High School in 1980. Both of his parents Ed & Julie were Bellflower High Alumni.

 

His father, Edward “Ed” Drayer, was elected Mayor of Bellflower and appointed to the Bellflower Superior Court as a Judge Pro Tem & a Court Commissioner. Julie, his mother, worked at Mayfair Middle & High School as the Fundraising Accountant for the ASB and later she worked at the District Office for Project Apple.

Having emerged from the Bellflower community and its schools, John Paul is committed to giving back by delivering top-tier education to all students within BUSD schools. His core focuses include community preservation, transparency, and a balanced budget.

John Paul is an accomplished educator with a rich background in education management. He retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and the Cerritos College Board of Trustees after serving as the co-executor of the Edward H. Drayer Estate. Transitioning into entrepreneurship, he now thrives as a small business owner and commercial real estate investor in California. Drayer excels in nonprofit organizations, coaching, educational consulting, and lesson planning. He holds a Master of Arts in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services from California State University of Dominguez Hills.

He currently lives in Bellflower and works as a part-time teacher with Los Alamitos School District while managing his family’s local businesses in Bellflower and surrounding cities.
